An inimitable and awesome contribution to the genre of education and enlightenment is provided by the National Register of Historic Places of the San Diego State University - an array of 13 edifices and structures built with a marvelous stature within the historic district of the university. An educational trip to these historical buildings would reveal an in depth knowledge and insight into each of the structure's rich history - a truly inspiring experience.

Visit the Aztec Bowl, the colossal 10,000 feet stadium dedicated by the honorable President Edward L. Hardy in 1936 on the occasion of a football match. Emerging as a favorable venue for a number of rock concerts and music festivals, a majority portion Aztec Bowl had been razed to the ground, after which new constructions commenced in 1995.

Take a trip to the magnificent Exercise and Nutritional Sciences Building, famous as the Dual Gym, claimed to be one of the largest and most well-equipped gymnasium and physical educational plant serving the needs of both men and women. A blending of a number of styles namely Gothic, Spanish, Iberian, Moorish etc enhance the beauty and grandeur of the building. At present, it prides itself of accommodating the Department of Military Science, the Department of Aerospace Studies, the Dance Studio and several such significant structures.

A favorite haunt of women, the Scripps Cottage, one of the earliest structures to be built on the Montezuma Mesa campus, was a picturesque lodging comprising a kitchen, lounge, porch, hostess room and offices for the Associated Women Students. Luscious lawns and gardens in full bloom surround the cottage, making it a charming ambience altogether.

Other historic structures under the San Diego State University's National Register of Historic Places are the Communication Building, Faculty Staff Club, Hepner Hall, Hardy Memorial Tower, Life Science Building and Annex, Little Theater, Open Air Theater, Physical Plant Boiler Shop and Physical Science Building.
