Balboa Park is a great venue for winter festivities. Take part in the festivals from 4-5th December in the park. You can attend most of the events without paying a penny. Be a part of the light displays, carolers, live music shows and dance performances. Food festival also takes place during this time when you can taste various scrumptious dishes from around the globe.

You can also celebrate Christmas in style at the Poway. The event entails theater, live music performances, making creative objects, lighting the tree and train rides. You can also expect goodies from Santa Claus and treat yourself to the some of the best cuisines. The Annual Mother Goose Parade is a lovely event of which you can be a part of. This started in 1947 and is held on 22nd November in El Cajon. It is considered to be one of the most popular and biggest events in the county of San Diego. The parade involves Santa Claus, clowns, floats, equestrian teams and bands which march along. You may be able to spot some celebrities as well.

December 13 is remembered as the day of Mission Bay Christmas Boat Parade of Lights. More than 100 sailboats and powerboats decked up with lights parade along the Mission Bay. This is a spectacle to watch just above the San Diego Sea World. Whale watching during the winters is another extraordinary experience. Thousands of gray whales can be spotted near the coast of San Diego. Hire a chartered boat service or just set sail with your own boat to enjoy the sight.
