San Diego Convention Center Parking Information

Situated on the harbor in downtown San Diego, the San Diego Convention Center is widely known as the premier meeting and conference facility in the region. After it opened in 1989, the venue had two expansions in 2001 and 2008. Now, the facility consists of 615,701 sq. ft. of exhibit space and 204,114 sq. ft of meeting space, including two ballrooms with an area of 40,000 square feet. The abundant versatile space, together with premiere services, makes the facility the best option for event planners.

Downtown transportation to the convention center is both convenient and stylish with several options. You can take horse-drawn carriages, the Coronado Ferry or the San Diego Trolley. Downtown area, Old Town and Mission Valley are connected to the Convention Center through the Trolley, which also connects the center to the Mexican border. You can board on a Trolley at two stops that are located in front of the center at Harbor Drive/Fifth Avenue and Harbor Drive/First Avenue.

For driving visitors, the San Diego Convention Center can be easily reached via I-5 and I-8. After arriving at the center, you do not need to worry about parking anymore. Visitors can find plenty of both on-site and off-site parking spaces at the convention center.

The underground parking garage offers convenient private vehicle parking. It's located below the building and can accommodate 1,950 parking vehicles. The entrance to the underground parking garage is located on Harbor Drive between First Avenue and Fifth Avenue. The garage is open from 5 AM to 11 PM.

The regular daily parking rate at the garage is $10 per vehicle. When there's any special event hosted at PETCO Park or other downtown events, the parking rates are subject to change, ranging from $10 to $20. You need to pay the parking fees upon entry. Remember there're no in and out privileges at the garage and you need to pay for your second entry in a day. RV parking and overnight parking are not allowed at the underground parking garage.

Exhibitors can purchase their parking permits at the parking office located inside the underground garage. The permits allow in and out privileges for exhibitors on move-in and move-out days. Metered street parking is also available in some nearby areas. Parking meters are available from 8 AM to 6 PM, Monday through Saturday. You can enjoy free metered parking on Sundays and designated holidays. Several payments accepted at metered spots include nickels, dimes, quarters and prepaid electronic debit cards.

There're abundant additional parking options in downtown San Diego. Off-site parking is available at a wide variety of nearby parking lots and garages in the downtown. Many of them are just located within walking distance of the convention center.

The closest nearby parking is the parking structure on the corner of Harbor Drive and 8th Drive. It's located directly across the street from the convention center. The parking structure can hold up to 2,000 vehicles.

Located at 33 West Harbor Drive, San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina provides parking for visitors. For hotel in-house guests, self parking costs $22 and valet parking needs $32. If you're not hotel guests, you need to pay $6 for first hour and each additional hour needs $4 for self parking. Valet parking needs $10 for the first hour. Each addition hour will cost you $4 with the maximum daily parking rate of $34.
