Spanish Village Art Center remains as a historic landmark despite of all changes. The construction of this charming Spanish style village can be dated back to 1935, when it was built in Balboa Park for the second California Pacific International Exposition. And it remained as a popular attraction afterwards. Two years later, the village was turned into an art center by some local artists. That's the very time when arts started to sprout in this village.
During the second World War, the village was used as barracks by the army. Dedicated artists restored this historic landmark and strived to make it a better place for arts. And this charming village has grown into a thriving community with 37 working artist studios/galleries and more than 250 local artists.

Studio 23 - Southwestern Artists' Association

The association's membership meeting is held first Monday of every month. And an art demonstration lasting from 10:00 am to noon will be presented after the meeting. Their Annual Juried Art Show in spring and Annual Art Festival in fall are two grand occasions when all San Diego County artists are gathered. Studio 25 - Art Class Guild
You can find everything from jewelry to handmade glass beads there at Studio 25 of Spanish Village Art Center. They are contributed by 35 talented glass artists. Each year, Art Class Guild presents two sales. Don't miss it if you're into glass artwork.
