How to get to the San Diego Convention Center?

For visitors arriving by plane or train, the San Diego Convention Center is conveniently situated about 3 miles from San Diego Airport and less than one mile from the Amtrak Station. Operated by the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS), the San Diego Trolley offers fast and convenient access to the convention center from the airport. The trolley makes two stops directly in front of the center. One is at Harbor Drive / First Avenue and the other one is at Harbor Drive / Fifth Avenue.

1) Driving south on I-5

For visitors coming from the south via I-5, it is advisable to take Front Street exit. Continue on Front Street until you get to Harbor Drive. Then, bear left and you will find the San Diego Convention Center. Follow the signs to parking entrance.

2) Driving North on I-5

If you are driving from the north via I-5, take Cesar Chavez Parkway exit and make a left. Following Cesar Chavez Parkway, proceed to Harbor Drive. The center will be on the right. There is signage that leads you to the parking entrance.

3) Driving West on I-8

If you are driving west on I-8, take I-8 west to 163 south. Follow 163 south into city and merge onto the 10th Avenue. Then drive on the 10th Avenue and make a right to Market Street. When on the Market Street, turn left to Front Street. Afterwards, take Front Street to Harbor Drive and turn left.

For visitors coming from the west by way of 94, take 94 west into the city until it turns into F Street. Follow F Street to 8th Avenue. 4) Coming from San Diego International Airport

If you are departing from San Diego International Airport, start out going west on Airport Terminal Road. Make a slight left to stay on Airport Terminal Road. Then keep right at the fork and bear left onto N Harbor Drive. Follow the N Harbor Drive to W Harbor Drive which will take you to the center.

5) Coming from Coronado

Situated on the harbor in downtown San Diego, the San Diego Convention Center is widely known as the premier meeting and conference facility in the region. After it opened in 1989, the venue had two expansions in 2001 and 2008. Downtown transportation to the convention center is both convenient and stylish with several options. You can take horse-drawn carriages, the Coronado Ferry or the San Diego Trolley. You can board on a Trolley at two stops that are located in front of the center at Harbor Drive/Fifth Avenue and Harbor Drive/First Avenue.

For driving visitors, the San Diego Convention Center can be easily reached via I-5 and I-8. After arriving at the center, you do not need to worry about parking anymore. Visitors can find plenty of both on-site and off-site parking spaces at the convention center.

The underground parking garage offers convenient private vehicle parking. It's located below the building and can accommodate 1,950 parking vehicles. The entrance to the underground parking garage is located on Harbor Drive between First Avenue and Fifth Avenue. The garage is open from 5 AM to 11 PM.

The regular daily parking rate at the garage is $10 per vehicle. When there's any special event hosted at PETCO Park or other downtown events, the parking rates are subject to change, ranging from $10 to $20. You need to pay the parking fees upon entry. Remember there're no in and out privileges at the garage and you need to pay for your second entry in a day. RV parking and overnight parking are not allowed at the underground parking garage.

Exhibitors can purchase their parking permits at the parking office located inside the underground garage. The permits allow in and out privileges for exhibitors on move-in and move-out days. Metered street parking is also available in some nearby areas. Parking meters are available from 8 AM to 6 PM, Monday through Saturday.
