After knowing the frequent sites for concerts and other performing arts, next we are going to focus on Spreckels Organ Pavilion, one of the most celebrated concert venues in San Diego. This state-of-an-art building is located at 1549 EI Prado #10, nearly in the center of Balboa Park and close to San Diego Museum of Man. Starting from 1917, every Sunday there are Free Organ Concerts in this optimal arena, and coming to Spreckels Organ Pavilion each Sunday and watching free organ concerts have become a tradition for San Diegoers as well as travelers from all over the world.
These concerts begin at 2 pm and last one hour on Sundays. Sponsored by the City of San Diego Park and Recreational Department and Spreckels Organ Society, these concerts are mostly performed by Dr. Carol Williams, one of the most prominent civic organists and artistic directors of the Spreckels Organ Society. All the concerts are FREE! This special festival brings dozens of world-recognized concert or theater organists and artistic directors to the Pavilion. When it comes to 2011, this year's Summer Organ Festival will begin from Monday evening on June 20 and come to the finale on August 29.
