The San Diego symphony is a very popular orchestra band in America. It is one of the most popular means of entertainment for the entire family. The first concert of San Diego symphony was held in 1910 on 6th of December.

The popularity of the concert has reached unprecedented height and today it performs more than hundred concerts in each season. The subscription series concert is held in Copley Symphony Hall constructed following the French Rococo style movie theatre in1929. Symphony Towers is the biggest building in the city; it was built in 1989 around the Copley Hall.

Some of the popular performances of San Diego symphony are Winter Pops series, Masterworks series, annual holiday programs, Light Bulb Series, Family Festival series. The outdoor summer pop sessions are performed from July to September. Some of the very popular venues for the concert are Belly Up Tavern, House of Blues San Diego, Humphrey's, SDSU Open Air Theatre, Cricket Wireless (formerly Coors) Amphitheatre, Cox Arena, 4th and B, Copley Symphony Hall, and the Sycuan Showcase Theatre.

Since the year 2005 the symphony musicians are also performing in the San Diego Opera. Since the year 2004, the orchestra has been performing under the directions from Jahja Ling. The contract of Jahja Ling was renewed in 2007 and was extended till 2012. Principal pops conductor since 2006 is Marvin Hamlisch.

Even today the San Diego symphony is entertaining countless number of people around the world. The annual salary of the musicians were revised and made $45,750. The season of the concerts has also increased from 26 to 41 weeks. The musicians are also known for contributing towards charity and noble causes.
